PUBLIC MEETING 23 JULY 2026 - Q & A (4)

We continue to receive a number of questions and concerns; so, that you are better informed, we will continue to post both questions and answers. This question has worried a number of villagers:

Question: Can the amount we pay annually to repay a potential public works loan go up, when the council tax goes up or does it remain at the same level for the next 35 years?

Answer: The amount we increase the precept by to repay the loan will remain fixed for 35 years .. it will not increase in any way.

The £4000 that the Village Hall had committed annually to subsidise that precept increase will be linked to inflation so that will go up .. but is only money taken from Village Hall profits and not anything any individual is repaying.

The precept may increase from 2028 onwards but that would be normal Parish Council spending and has nothing to do with the loan repayment.
