THE VILLAGE HALL: ONE LAST HOORAH!

Sep 27
2 min read

We are planning one last ‘HOORAH!’ for our beloved Village Hall on Saturday 19 December 2026 from 7:30pm as we celebrate its closure after 101 years at the very heart of community life in Christian Malford. Please reserve the date as we won’t be able to confirm until we hear the decision on the Public Works Loan (expected late October / early November). This is planned to be the very last event ever held in the Hall so don’t miss out. Tickets will cost £5 a head. If the Public Works Loan decision is positive .. tickets will go on sale immediately at that point.

Originally a World War 1 Field Hospital, the building was repurposed as our Village Hall and officially opened on 17 December 1925.

For 101 years it has been the setting for entertainment — community and private — sport, education, clubs and societies, meetings, celebrations and probably the occasional misdemeanour! It has created countless memories for generations of villagers and people from the surrounding communities.

And, of course, after 101 years, there is every chance that its walls could tell a few stories of their own… if only they could talk!

So, before the doors finally close, we intend to give the old girl the send-off she deserves!

There will be a bar, snacks, canapés, live entertainment, fun, laughter and, no doubt, a few surprises as we say farewell to our much-loved hall.

But this isn’t simply an ending. We look forward to seeing the proverbial ‘phoenix rising from the ashes’ — a new Village Hall that will serve Christian Malford and its communities for the next 100 years and beyond.

 KEEP WATCHING FOR FURTHER INFORMATION!

We anticipate that tickets will go on sale in November. Demand is expected to be high, so you’ll need to be quick!

Come along and become part of the legend— and earn the right to tell your grandchildren:

“I was there the night an era ended… and a new one began!”

 WE NEED VOLUNTEERS!

We are looking for volunteers to help plan, coordinate and run this very special event.

If you are willing to join the team, please contact either:

Steve Hunt — stevebhunt@aol.com

Nigel Fairley — nigefairley@aol.com

And there’s a very important added incentive…

Volunteering will guarantee that you get the inside track — and, importantly, a ticket to ‘One Last Hoorah!’

Come and raise a glass, share a few memories and give our wonderful old Village Hall the farewell it deserves.

Saturday 19 December 2026 — be there!
