On 11 May 2026, our MP, Roz Savage, accompanied by her Chief of Staff, Claire Waddell, paid a two-hour visit to our Village Hall. They received a briefing on our plans to replace our current Hall, a tour of the Hall, and far-ranging discussions on the project and the vital importance of this key asset to the community.
From our perspective the visit went extremely well, - Roz and Claire seemed to enjoy the ‘engagement’; hopefully it will bear fruit to the benefit of our project.
Feedback from Roz and Claire indicates that the meeting appeared to achieve two important things at once: credibility and rapport. The phrase “quite polished and hit the right notes” is especially positive coming from a Chief of Staff — it suggests that we came across as organised, aligned, and strategically coherent rather than simply enthusiastic.
The fact that both Roz and Claire appeared to enjoy the engagement also matters; MPs and their staff see a huge number of pitches and visits, so genuine engagement is a strong signal.
We now have evidence that the project is being perceived seriously at parliamentary level, which is valuable in itself.
