STATE OF THE VILLAGE HALL - NEWS FLASH – 24 SEP 20i24

The recent heavy rains have further highlighted the poor, and failing, condition of the Village Hall - the roof (above the toilet block extension) is now leaking badly. The Village Hall Committee is urgently investigating how to make the roof watertight; the options under consideration are patching or a full replacement. Bearing in mind the conclusion of the Chartered Surveyor’s report, in Oct 2021: ‘ ….. it has reached the end of its economic life. Any money now spent on repair or improvement would not be cost effective in the long term’. Accepting that we need to keep the Village Hall safe to use; we should not be wasting precious funds on the current hall which should be going towards our much needed rebuild.

The integrity of the Village Hall is a major concern – we are already using a tarpaulin in the storeroom area to keep that roofing watertight.
